The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Lagos governorship election, Jimi Agbaje, has conceded defeat following the declaration by INEC that Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the the All Progressives Congress (APC) was the winner of the poll.
Announcing the concession call via his Twitter handle, Sanwo-Olu said: “At exactly 19:07, I received a call. Thank you @jimiagbaje for your congratulatory call filled with kind words. It was an intense campaign and I am happy we can now focus on the very important job at hand; delivering a Lagos that works for all. #ForAGreaterLagos.”
How Sanwo-Olu won: The APC candidate polled 739,445 votes to defeat Agbaje who got 206,141 votes, a difference of 533,304 votes.
A graduate of the University of Lagos, Sanwo-Olu was a commissioner under Babatunde Fashola, a former governor of Lagos.
