Tambuwal makes closing arguments to PDP delegates with 4 points

While President Muhammadu Buhari had a smooth, uncontested ride to the head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2019 election, it is going down to the wire in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

One of the frontrunners in the race, Aminu Tambuwal, made his closing arguments this evening at a press conference in Port Harcourt.

Just like Atiku Abubakar whose closing arguments were made on Friday morning by his campaign DG, Gbenga Daniel, the campaign DG of the Tambuwal campaign, Mike Omeri, spoke on his behalf.

The case for Tambuwal

  1. No anti-corruption case: Without mentioning it explicitly, the Tambuwal campaign was trying to create a distinction between itself and some of the other contenders like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, senate president Bukola Saraki and Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido. “Our candidate has the credentials of being one of the very few that has served in public office and is yet to be invited by any of the anti graft agencies in the country,” he said. “Tambuwal is one of the few opposition candidates that the government will not drag him to the Tribunal or the Police.”
  2. Track Record/Capacity: He has the most outstanding performance track record out there. “Tambuwal has learnt the ropes over the years, at the highest levels of national leadership and also as a professional,” Omeri said. “This government lacks capacity. Tambuwal has the capacity and certificates that are not with the army.”
  3. Youthful: “He is young and appeals to a generation of young people and believes the future of Nigeria is now,” he said.
  4. Bridge builder: He said that Tambuwal is on a mission to rescue the country by unifying and building consensus among all the actors involved. “We have spoken to these delegates and they understand the needs that Nigeria needs Nigerians and we are presenting a man with a track record who seeks to mend fences and unite and that person is Waziri Tambuwal,” he said. “The first thing we need in Nigeria today is we need a President who seeks and has a deliberate intention to unite this country.”
