Security agencies lay siege on Senate leadership

There is an air of desperation in Abuja.

The convoy of the Senate president Bukola Saraki was blocked this morning by police officers. According to an aide of the senate president, Saraki was on his way to honour a police invitation over the Offa robbery incident when he was accosted.

Meanwhile the home of the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu,  was also surrounded by police officers.

The siege was reportedly based on an EFCC invitation to him on an alleged case of conspiracy, abuse of office and money laundering.
