Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has been the most vocal critic of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Whereas every other state governor has visited the presidential villa several times and met with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ekiti governor has not had a direct interaction with the president since 2015.
Before today he had visited the villa twice. The first time was in 2016 to attend a presidential economic retreat. Fayose stormed out midway through that event and described it as a jamboree. A few months later, he attended the National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Pres. Buhari was not even in the country that second time as he was attending the United Nations General Assembly.
All that changed on Thursday.
Dressed in an Igbo attire, the Ekiti governor attended the council of state meeting with Buhari presiding. He stayed till the end and shook hands with the president afterwards.
