Just In: IPOB remains banned – Court rules

A Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Adamu Kafarati, has rejected an application by the proscribed group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) challenging the order banning it.

In his ruling, the judge said that the proscription of the group on September 20 last year was validly made, and the application seeking a vacation of the order was “unmeritorious” and deserved to be dismissed.

The judge awarded N500,000 cost against IPOB.

IPOB has said through its lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, that it will appeal the decision.
