As reported earlier, the Department of State Services (DSS) paraded the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, before the media on Saturday.
According to the agency, parading El-Zakzaky was necessary because “there was unfounded rumour which was spread across Nigeria that the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, passed on in the custody of the service.”
El-Zakzaky wore a clerical collar signifying that he was recuperating from an injury to his neck. He also required a stick to walk.
In a very brief chat with journalists, accompanied by his wife, he said he was severely ill but a bit relieved now.
“It was severe on me on Monday, but subsequently, it started subsiding and for the first time at least, the security has allowed me to see my own doctor.
“So it was my own doctors, who examined me. Before, I’m used to being examined by security doctors, but this time, I did not agree. So, it was my own doctors who came to examine, but I’m getting better. Thank you for all your prayers,” El-Zakzaky said.
