Just In: Police finally grant bail to BudgIT staff arrested in Kaduna

Following public outrage over the arrest of Moses Motoni, a project tracking officer with a civic advocacy organization, BudgIT, the Nigerian Police have finally granted him bail.

In a statement on its social media handles, the police said Motoni was not arrested by SARS operatives but by a police team “on the case of Inciting Public Disturbance reported against him which occurred on the 1st and 2nd of December, 2017 at Gbako, Tandzun and Bida Villages on Federal Constituency Project.”

The clarification on who made the arrest was necessary as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has come under fire in recent days over its high-handedness.
