Kashamu accuses Makarfi of creating problems for the PDP in two ways

Controversial lawmaker, Buruji Kashamu has blasted the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, over the rising spate of “problem creations” in the party.

Makarfi’s sins:

  • Denying the South West of sole right to produce the next chairman of the party. Contrary to the initial arrangement, Kashamu said Makarfi allowed himself to be blinded by his presidential ambition to make the chairmanship contest a “free-for-all” for the entire Southern region.

“It is not hidden that prior to the emergence of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, a generally acceptable zoning of national EXCO positions have been reached; where the national chairmanship was zoned to the South, on the understanding that the next presidential candidate shall be of northern extraction. Major stakeholders in the party also felt it would be equitable and just to further concede the national chairmanship position to the South West which has not had the privilege of producing the national chairman of the party since inception.”

  • Working in cahoots with influential members of the PDP to disorganise the state executives of the party, especially in the South West, in order to foster his presidential ambition.

“Senator Makarfi has allowed his egocentric presidential ambition to blindfold him. He has been illegally tinkering with duly elected states’ EXCOs with the intention of substituting them with allies sympathetic to his ambition sliced with greed of selling state structures with impunity. He has disorganised the South-West PDP for selfish manipulations with his cohorts, chief among who is the uncultured and erratic Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose,” he said.
