We used recovered loot to fund 2017 budget, says Buhari

According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the implementation of the 2017 budget, to a large extent, has been made possible through monies recovered from treasury looters.

Good use: Represented by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Idris Ahmed, at the 22nd Annual Conference of Certified National Accountants, Pres. Buhari said that although much of the recovered funds are subject to legal encumbrances, those without such limitation have been beneficial and put to good use by his government, especially in financing the 2017 budget.

Buhari said his administration is doing its best to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.

“My Administration has practically done much in delivering on its core focus of diversifying the economy. Power generation has peaked at an all-time high of 7,001 Megawatts in the third quarter of 2017. A firm implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) since September 2015 has significantly enhanced transparency in the Federal Government’s Public Financial Management System,” he said.
