Six year later: Zamfara govt sacks judge for receiving N200,000 bribe

The Zamfara state government has dismissed Justice Musa Anka, a judge in its employ who received a bribe of N200,000 from Zubairu Abdumalik in order to deliver judgement in his favour.

Interesting to note that:

  1. The National Judicial Council (NJC) had recommended the compulsory removal of Justice Anka since 2011. It took the Zamfara government six years to effect the recommendation.
  2. Nonetheless, the NJC said in a statement on Monday signed by its director of information, Soji Oye, that it welcomed the sack as a “good development.”
