Remember Peter Odili? The former Rivers governor married to a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, who in 2007, few days before he stepped down as governor, obtained a perpetual injunction from a court restraining the EFCC from arresting, detaining and arraigning him for alleged N100 billion fraud.
Yes, that same Odili.
He is currently set to float the first private medical science university in the country. The proposed university would be called PAMO University of Medical Science.
Odili has already forwarded the relevant documents, including the academic brief, physical master plan and the University law have been submitted to the National Universities Commission, (NUC) for consideration from members of the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC) of the proposed university.
If approved, it would be the second private medical science university in the country, after one which was set up in 2015 by the Ondo State Government.
The Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, said while receiving the documents from Odili, that although establishing a private university may not be financially rewarding in the short term, it gives a lasting reputation to the promoters eventually.
