The N605m contract awarded by ex-Gov Fayemi to furnish the new Ekiti Governor’s Lodge (READ)

The new administration of Gov. Ayo Fayose in Ekiti state is determined to stay on the offensive against the APC administration led by his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi.

Fayose’s team had previously released photos of the new Ekiti Government House, accusing Fayemi of lavishing millions for the beds in his room and that of his wife. Now, they have released a letter showing that ex-governor Kayode Fayemi awarded a contract worth N605m to Kitwood Nigeria Limited to furnish the new Government House.

The contract was awarded on June 18, 2014, just three days to the governorship election which Fayemi lost.

According to Lere Olayinka, an aide to Gov. Ayo Fayose, the problem is not just the amount that was “lavished” on the Governor’s Lodge, but also the fact that “Instead of the State Ministry of Works,  the contractor was asked to report at the office of Fayemi’s Chief of Staff,  Yemi Adaramodu to sign contractual agreement and also obtain detailed specifications of the items to be procured.” He said that it showed a disregard for due process by the previous administration.

Here is a photo of the letter awarding the contract for the furnishing to Kitwood Nigeria Limited. It was signed by one Tayo Aluko of the Ekiti State Tenders Board.
