The APC has elected the man who will square off against the acting governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri (the PDP candidate) for the October governorship election in the state. The APC candidate will be a sitting senator representing Adamawa North senatorial district, Senator Muhammad Jibrillah Bindow.
The APC adopted the modified open ballot system, in which delegates voted in their various local government areas in public spaces, much like what happens in the normal elections.
Of the 6232 delegates who were accredited across the 21 local government areas, Bindow scored 2718 votes to defeat Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, who got 2268 votes.
The result was announced by the Chairman of the electoral committee of the party, Dr Garba Abari, who said that 42 votes were declared invalid.
Meanwhile Boss Mustapha scored 515 votes to clinch the third position, followed by Senator Ahmed Barata, who scored 452 votes, while Chief Yakubu Tsala scored 187 votes and Mr. Emmanuel Bello scored 50 votes.
Both Bindow, and acting governor Fintiri who won the PDP primary are from the Adamawa North senatorial district.
