The incumbent governors of Ekiti and Osun, Kayode Fayemi and Rauf Aregbesola respectively have won their party’s nomination to fly its flag in the governorship elections to be held this year.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) held its primaries for the elections today in the two states.
There was never any doubt that Fayemi and Aregbesola will win as the two men had the total backing of the party’s leadership and had no opponents.
The Ekiti governorship election comes first on June 21 while that of Osun will hold on August 9.
The main challengers of the two governors from the main opposition parties in the states have already been selected. In Ekiti, Fayemi will be challenged by Ayo Fayose of the PDP and Opeyemi Bamidele of the Labour Party. Aregbesola’s main opponent in Osun meanwhile is the PDP’s Iyiola Omisore.
